Wig Design for Dot, Sunday in the Park with George

Course: Hair and Wig Technology
University of Minnesota 2018-19
Instructor: Andrea Moriarity

For this assignment we were to choose a character from a play and design and style a wig from stock. I chose Dot, from Sunday, because it’s one of my all time favorite shows. It also gave me an opportunity to do some historical research, and practice an up-do. In Seurat’s painting she is wearing a hat, so I created a style that would look good with or without a hat over it. I used small rollers to create ringlets to frame the face. The rest of the hair I put in large rollers in a brick pattern, decreasing my elevation as I moved back from the hairline, just to create some body.
